Celebrating Women in Cricket; Smriti Mandhana Turns 24

Smriti Mandhana a much celebrated and a promising cricketer from Women's National Cricket team turned 24 on Saturday, July 18.

Internet has been filled up with wishes and appreciation for the star India opener from her teammates and cricket fans.

Mandhana is considered as one of the best batswomen of the contemporary cricket and ranks 4th in ODI batting rankings, also remains the only Indian in the top 5 of the list.

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, and star women's pacer Jhulan Goswami tweeted birthday wishes for Smriti.

Smriti Shriniwas Mandhana born on 18 July 1996 whom the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named as the 'Best Women's International Cricketer'.

December 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) awarded her with the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Award for the best female cricketer of the year. She was also named the ODI Player of the Year by the ICC at the same time.

The broadened minds who appreciate women in sports and celebrate a woman cricketer's birthday is worth mentioning.

Looking at the craze for cricket in India which is never expected to fall down, we do expect a fall down of mysonigy and sexism in sports and all other sectors.
