Remembering Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on his 5th Death anniversary.

Today i.e July 27 marks the Death Anniversary of the 11th president of our country, APJ Abdul Kalam. Born and raised at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu, his full name was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam.

Fondly known as India's Missile Man, he studied physics and aerospace engineering which helped in shaping his career as a scientist and science administrator at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). His most significant works include the development of the Indian ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. 

In 1997, he received Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in India. He also received several other awards including the Padma Bhushan (1981) and the Padma Vibhushan (1990). In 2002, Dr Kalam became the 11th President of India and was widely regarded as "people's president".

He passed away at the age 83 from an apparent cardiac arrest during delivering a lecture to students at the Indian institute of management in Shillong.
